Everyone has been up in arms this week over claims that information from Facebook users has been collected and used by political analysis firm, Cambridge Analytica, for campaign research without their consent. Now, however, video evidence has emerged proving that Barack Obama was guilty of the same data usage during his 2012 campaign.
Conservative Tribune reported that making matters even worse, the Obama campaign’s use of Facebook users’ private information was encouraged by the $500 billion dollar company.
A newly-surfaced video shows Obama staffer Carol Davidsen suggest that the Obama campaign was able to “ingest the entire social network of the U.S. that’s on Facebook” to utilize social connections between users as they targeted advertisements and their social media offensive.
While Obama and his team used Facebook’s application to infiltrate and influence the social networks of its users, Republicans kept using traditional campaign strategies to win over their audience which, as Davidsen explains, created a “disadvantage of information.” Davidsen later took to Twitter to say that Facebook “didn’t stop (them) once they realized that is what (they) were doing,” and even admitted that Facebook “allowed (them) to do things they wouldn’t have allowed someone else to do because they were on our side.”
The mainstream media has spent months trying to make it look like Donald Trump did something wrong with the way he used Facebook during his campaign. In reality, however, it was Obama who manipulated Facebook users for his own personal gain in a sleazy way.
